Spring comes early to New Mexicos southern mountains. As the Sacramento foothills turn that light shade of green a stirring resonates in all those who have been hibernating during the frosty season. Hungry Bears wonder down the mountain scrounging for a tasty snack, Cabin Bound Villagers fling open their windows and doors to welcome the freshness of the new season, and Bikers from all over America and beyond pull the covers off of their scooters in anticipation of the Aspen Cash Motorcycle Rally.
An annual event held every May the Aspen Cash Motorcycle Rally is a regular stop on the ever-growing rally circuit. A 4-day trade show at the 33,000 sq. ft. Ruidoso Convention Center is the centerpiece of this event with vendors offering everything a biker can dream of. There are bikes and leather, patches and leather, custom accessories and leather and of course lots of leather!
The $10,000 poker run is always great fun and takes place in one of the most beautiful riding locations on the planet! Of course, its really all about the Cruising. The winding roads of Lincoln County follow the same trails that Billy the Kid and Sheriff Pat Garrett rode a century ago. Mountain switchbacks will take you almost to the top of the 12,000 foot Sierra Blanca peak or the small mountain town of Cloudcroft.
Lonely stretches of desert asphalt will lead you to historic ghost towns where the gun once ruled the day and justice was often found at the end of a rope. At days end, the Village comes alive with the local eateries, pubs and saloons cranking it up with some of the best food and biker friendly service this side of the Pecos.
The night becomes a party with live music and good friends all enjoying the celebration of spring in Ruidoso and the start of another riding season.
